Helena's 3rd Annual Birthday Bonanza
It's that time of the year again, when I get older. To celebrate this I tend to do some big crazy things at my store. This year is no different, other then the fact that as I started to set up, I got attacked by hunt harpies! those darn things are everywhere now . . .
Hunt Harpie-A creature not of myth in sl. You will see them all over, following unexpected victims, ready to snatch hunt prizes from said victim's grasp. One of the only deterrents is to bash yourself randomly against the wall, to make them think you are slightly noobish, they don't like the noobs.
So here I was, on my own sim, in my own store, when a crowd of hunt harpies swoop in! Now obviously I was not on a hunt, dude it's my own store. But they don't notice names, they just go "oh there is someone, lets follow them around and see if they find the treasure". This has always been an agrivation for me. When finally after 20 minutes they figure out I'm not doing much of anything, they IM me and ask if I was on the hunt, and if the could get hints? Ermmmmm NO!
Then the whining begins, oh how hunt harpies whine!
Well I was slightly famished, so I put on my best smile, then set out for a bit of harpie flesh. Not the tastiest meat, but hey, it's shuts up their traps right?
A few minutes later, after catching the last one, and plucking each feather from it's body, I notice a slight glimmer to the feathers. Picking one up out pops a trinket of sorts? hmmmm what is this?
Seems like the hunt harpies hide their many stolen treasures in amongst their feathers!
So what is a girl to do, I have left feathers from my mad rampage of plucking all over the store and sim.
Will you help find them all?

Any you never know, this is just what I have planned, I might get crazy and put in something else here and there, so keep a watch out!

HairFair 2009 Flickr Contest
The time is near.
June 20th marks the start of HairFair 2009. People have been gearing up all around. Designers have been off making lovelies for you to enjoy.
Well the HairFair 2009 Flickr has been opened, and I'd love to see you all in it sporting my hair as one of your top ten! I really enjoyed finding the few last year, when I was a nobody, so it would delight me if you could clutter the feeds with my awesomeness! Hehe kidding, just takes some great pics, you know how I love them so!

I put 6 gift vouchers into the pot for the winners, they would get a fatpack of almost any hair(as always it does not include my Rezzable hairs). There are also many other designers giving away gift vouchers. The prizes will blow your minds, really!
I'm making a special pack for all avatars that enter with one of my hairs. I have no clue what it will be as of yet, the idea just came to me. A Special Edition colouration maybe, We'll see.

A Hair for an Eye Contest
I thought I'd help a friend out with a little contest!
What does this mean for you? Why free hairs of course!
Ruina Kessel has been a great fan to start off with. She was always so enthused by my creations. Well then she became my model for the store (one of a few that have stayed on). She has put as much effort into being there for me as my own sister, and that says alot (if you know me and my sissy poo, we are super close, unlike most siblings). She makes wonderful photo art with my items, and in turn she one day surprised me. She opened (or re-opened I should say) a shop. What did she have there? EYES! Alas the poor girl did not know that I am an eye WHORE! So I bought a few up. Well, she continued to release wonderful creations, and I have also been lucky enough to get exclusives, eyes made just for me as gifts, and even one named for me! I do still buy a few every week, you sort of have to keep going to the store to keep up! Her creations have also rekindled my demon spirit, so now I'm letting it out way more. I say fuck it, even when I'm all gussied up, I just throw one a pair of ][][][House of Ruin][][][ eyes, and people just stare in awe. Or run, after seeing the gleam in my eyes, and the quick lick of the lips. MMMMM Dinner.
In Ruina's Flickr group she made a sort of plea to her fans there to put some art in the group, so she could have an art flipper in the store. This is cool shit yo! The only issue is there are only 6 of us in the group! So I make a plee to you my friends/fans, to help us out!

I have a picture changer up in the store for the sole purpose of showing off people wearing my creations. And, while I suffer from the standard forms of SL vanity, I'd really like it if the images weren't all of just me :P ... So I am asking you, would you like to help?
First of all, what will happen to the pictures I choose to use:
I will crop them down, touch them up, and format them so that they fit in the changer and look as best as they can. I have a template that includes writing which the picture will be plugged into. I will also post the final formatted image in my flickr (with credits, of course!) and possibly my shop blog (once it's up and running). If you will not allow me to do these things, do not submit your image.
Secondly, the criteria your picture needs to meet for me to choose it:
1. You MUST be wearing a House of Ruin item (duh!). If you aren't sure if it qualifies, you can look at the item name - it should have a tag at the beginning of it like these:

2. The absolute minimum size that your image can be is 800 x 600. Larger is much preferred, and size may play a big role in whether I choose to use your image. This is because I will likely need to crop the image down, and it's much easier if I have room to work with.
3. The image MUST clearly show the House of Ruin item(s) you are wearing (for example, for eyes, the image really needs to be a head shot).
4. Please please please credit the other items you are wearing and the photographer if it wasn't you. I will also need your full SL name, so be sure it is somewhere if it isn't your Flickr name. I use this information in my template.
Thirdly, other things you need to know:
- The House of Ruin item(s) used in the image CAN be a freebie or a hunt item or a group gift.
- The image can be in any format that I can open, but keep in mind, I will only pick images that are clean and clear. So, low quality jpegs are probably not a good idea.
- I reserve the right to not use an image, and to stop using an image that I have used before, without a stated reason.
- I also reserve the right to use images that were not submitted to the group or this project, but that I have been granted permission to use.
- You can submit images to me via Flickr, via notecard in SL (just drop it on my profile: Ruina Kessel), and via email (ruina.kessel@gmail.com)

Bubu-a project I've been working on
I want to start to show you guys some of the stuff I have on the go. Now this one is almost all done, but I still thought I would share.
Bubu is a project started by Logan Skytower. He explained that it was inspired by the concept of the Munny dolls. Achariya Maktoum apparently contacted Logan to contact me, and that's how I got on this project. Sl has been crap, so it took me a bit longer to start this then I wanted.
The Basic concept of the Project:
You go to the BUBU mainstore, get your Babu kit, so far the price is said to be set at L$250.
Inside you get a bunch of stuff.

-3 skin Sparycans-Blank Bubu, Guidelines Bubu and Free Angry Monkey Skin

The basic concept of this little dude is simply to have fun and customize him however you want. It can be anything. All the tools needed to make your own skins are there for you to go off and get started. The Bubu mainstore will have skins you can by, the price so far has been set to about L$100 for each skin. so you can by them, or make your own. Logan has no issues to you selling your skins, just make sure people know they need to get the avi from his store. You can't sell that, as it's no trans.
How do you change your skin? It's really cool actually, your skins come in spraycans. You set it out inworld, click it, and get sprayed! Your skin changes in the process, so you can change him however many times you like.
Logan gave a few of us designers the kit to sort of test, and to help launch the project. I'm okay at making textures, but not too hot at the airbrushing, so I opted to make my dude had attachments. He is my little swamp critter!
This was my work in progress shot this morning, I have since completed him(just not the spraycan).

The tentative launch for Bubu is May 16th, so coming up this saturday! I posted on Plurk what other sorts of colours I should do.
So far the list is Orange, Red and Purple, as well as my store colour, the Swampy Green.
What I propose here, is a sort of little contest.
List the colours you would like to see him in. Name the colours something to do with a swamp like creature.
I'll show you an example with mine:

Another Example would be:
Bubu Swampy in Mucky Orange(YAY! Daarc came up with that one)
You can choose multiple colours, multiple names. What I'm going to do for you is give you prizes!

Bubu is a project started by Logan Skytower. He explained that it was inspired by the concept of the Munny dolls. Achariya Maktoum apparently contacted Logan to contact me, and that's how I got on this project. Sl has been crap, so it took me a bit longer to start this then I wanted.
The Basic concept of the Project:
You go to the BUBU mainstore, get your Babu kit, so far the price is said to be set at L$250.
Inside you get a bunch of stuff.
-Bubu Avi(comes in preset Blank Babu Skin)
-Bubu AO
-Bubu Pose Stand
-3 skin Sparycans-Blank Bubu, Guidelines Bubu and Free Angry Monkey Skin
-Bubu Doll
-Bubu Skins Kit(Templates, Bakes and empty Spraycan)
-Instructions

A contest of sorts!

Okay so basically if you have never heard of 7seas, it's a sl game where people fish for prizes. There is mostly fish, but you can get other things, like boats and clothing. 7seas has allowed people that host fishing spots to make special fish to give out for gifts too. I have been asked to make some special fishies for a certain fishing hole. Now this has been fun, cause I've been making the fish I want. But I thought it would be cool to make the dream fish for someone else. I've also been working on some crazy fishing gear to win too, like poles, hats and other odd bits. So here is what I want you to do. Simply make a notecard inworld, name this card: Stringer Fishy Idea - Your Name Here, with your name in the "Your Name Here" spot. Then fill in the rest below. After that's done, send it to me(Helena Stringer).
I Want your IDEAS!
What would be your dream fish?(this one can even be cutie, I'm cool with that)
eg. mine was a spider fish
Would it have special features?
eg. I wanted it to be in both glow and non glow
Would you want certain colours?
eg. I wanted lots of colours! cause I'm nutty like that!
Now if you could have some sort of deranged fish, what would it be?
eg. I making me a swamp thingy of some sort
What sort of other fishy stuff would you like to get as prizes?
eg. Hair with fishing hooks, hats with lures, fishing rods with eyeballs, the list could be so long!

Kick me in the Butt Contest
Of sorts!
This isn't really a contest but more of a way for you to help me, but get free stuff in the process.
As I just said, I really want this blog to work, and to be happy with it. I need to keep it current, and really have a go at it. It just came to me that you guys can help.
Here's how this thing will go:
1) If you see a release, then come on the blog, and there is no New Release post, you send me a notecard to say " Hey Lady, get your fat ass in gear!" For your troubles you get a Free Hairpack of your choice, whatever style, whatever colour.
2) Once I log in or accept that notecard, I get 24 hours to do up a post. The only exception to this is weekends, I work in rl Sat. and Sun. so on those days It'll be by monday night if you don't see it. If by the end of the 24 hours(or monday night slt time, we'll say before midnight) I still don't have a post up, you get another Free Hairpack of your choice, whatever style, whatever colour.
This may seem silly, but after I have given out so much hair, maybe I'll get the idea that I need to get my ass in gear!
In a sense it's you helping me help you. And there is hair! But not in odd places, unless you want that, but thats a whole other post, hehe.
